Google Launches Its AI Model ”Gemini” – A Competitor for OpenAI’s GPT-4

Recently, Google launched its own powerful AI model, “Gemini,” ready to challenge OpenAI’s GPT-4. With advanced capabilities for processing text, images, and even sound, Gemini promises to revolutionize how we interact with technology. As per Google, it is built to be used for advanced planning, reasoning, and understanding. Moreover, it is multimodal, which means it can read and analyze words, shapes, and sounds.

It comes in three sizes; each made for different uses, and can work on various devices, from data centers to phones. CEO SundarPichai says they made Gemini to handle different types of information right from the start, and then improved it even more with extra data to make it better.

So, here is all you need to know about this.

Different Sizes of Gemini

1. Gemini Nano: It is a light AI model designed for mobile devices, especially the Pixel 8. This efficient model allows tasks to be done directly on the device, even without an internet connection. Whether suggesting responses in chat apps or summarizing text, Gemini Nano brings strong AI features without needing external servers to ensure a responsive user experience.

2. Gemini Pro: It is an advanced version of Gemini AI, which is set to play a key role in various Google AI services. Serving as the core support for Bard, it operates in Google’s data centers and provides the necessary power for the latest version of our AI chatbot. Gemini Pro ensures swift response times and an impressive ability to understand complex queries, showcasing advanced technology.

3. Gemini Ultra: The ultra-version is the most powerful LLM by Google. Gemini Ultra, as per reports, stands out in handling highly complex tasks and is tailored for data centers and enterprise applications. While it’s not widely accessible yet, Google highlights Gemini Ultra’s exceptional performance, surpassing current benchmarks on 30 out of 32 widely-used academic tests for large language models (LLM) research and development. It indicates its superiority over other LLMs in standard assessments. Made for complex tasks, the release of Gemini Ultra is forecasted after the completion of its ongoing testing phase.

Gemini in Bard

Google Bard has received a significant upgrade, now powered by a refined version of Gemini Pro. This enhancement equips Bard with advanced reasoning and understanding capabilities. Google considers this as Bard’s most significant upgrade since its launch. Currently available in English in over 170 countries, there are plans for further expansion shortly.
