If you have an online store on Magento website, you would be probably gearing up for the peak of sales in 2021. With the release of Magento 2.4.3, businesses will now have better features and opportunities to make more sales during the upcoming shopping season.

The latest Magento version offers many new features that will enable online stores to provide a great on-site shopping experience to customers.

In this post, eSearch Logix will tell you about the new features and updates of Magento 2.4.3 that could help you to upgrade your online store and thus improve sales.

Key Features of Magento 2.4.3

1. SECURITY ENHANCEMENTS

All the known issues found in the previous Magento 2.4.2 version have been fixed in this release. Moreover, 33 additional security improvements have been made to close Remote Code Execution (RCE) and cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities.

In case you can’t upgrade to the latest Magento version quickly, it is recommended to install at least one of the security patch versions which are given below:

  • Adobe Commerce 2.4.2-p2
  • Adobe Commerce 2.3.7-p1

2. BUILT-IN RATE LIMITING

Rate limiting is now built in to Magento APIs to stop denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. Web APIs now imposes restrictions on the size or number of resources (the default limit is set to 20 and can be configured to a different value based on business need) which can be requested by a client.

3. RECAPTCHA EXPANSION

With the expansion of ReCAPTCHA, your eCommerce websites are much safer from spam and bots. It protects online stores from carding attacks through brute force mechanisms. When web APIs are accessed by a third-party integration service which uses OAuth, ReCAPTCHA is disabled as default. Though it can be enabled from the admin panel.

4. INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS

This release includes enhancements that refine the quality of the framework and the following functional areas:

  • CMS
  • Import/Export
  • OMS
  • Cart and Checkout
  • B2B
  • Customer account
  • Catalog
  • Staging and Preview
  • Promotions and Targeting

5. PAYPAL PAY LATER

This new feature is now supported in deployments which contain PayPal. It allows shoppers to pay for an order in bi-weekly installments, instead of paying the full amount at the time of purchase.

6. NEW COMPOSER PLUGIN

Adobe commerce has provided a new composer plugin which performs integrity checks during installation to eliminate the vulnerability known as dependency confusion. It will help Magento website developers to use private and public composer package repositories to deliver code for updates or fixes to Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source merchants.

This private composer package repository at repo.magento.com is audited by Adobe for malware and package upload validation.

However, a non-used namespace at the public repository at packagist.org can be utilized to upload malicious packages, which in turn can be passed on to the merchant’s commerce instances. Here are the techniques to avoid dependency confusion:

  • Ensure the namespace on packagist.org is owned by you.
  • Use the plugin during testing any extension’s installation flow.

7. PLATFORM ENHANCEMENTS

Magento 2.4.3 is not compatible with PHP 8.x yet; however, the following platform upgrades take one step closer to future compatibility with PHP 8.x.

  • The knockout library has been upgraded to v3.5.1 (the latest version)
  • Core composer dependencies and third-party libraries have been advanced to the latest version which is compatible with PHP 8.x.
  • Laminas library dependencies have been upgraded to PHP 8.x.-compatible versions. Some redundant dependencies have been removed from the composer.json file. For this purpose, Adobe Commerce 2.4.3 uses Laminas 3.4.0.

Page Builder is now available as a bundled extension in Magento Open Source. It is the default content editing tool for Adobe Commerce 2.4.3 and Magento Open Source 2.4.3. • Category Description

Buying from a wishlist is now simplified with the capability to add to a cart directly from a wishlist. These enhancements highly encourage conversions on eCommerce websites.

Adobe Commerce has also introduced a user interface (UI) kit along with PWA Studio. The kit comes with pre-configured assets, templates, and symbols for creating an intuitive and mobile-first web experience. It supports developers in creating responsive eCommerce website design that support multiple mobile operating systems and increase sales.

13. Upgrade Compatibility Tool

Adobe has increased the scope of the upgrade compatibility tool, originally released in January as an Alpha, with a goal to improve its usability and workflow. It enables merchants to detect and validate core files modifications, export the report in a .json file, validate Vendor Bundled Extensions (VBEs) like Vertex and dotdigital, and see error codes to identify and resolve issues.

14. Observation for Adobe Commerce

Observation for Adobe Commerce is a monitoring tool available to cloud users. This tool visually showcases application log data in combination with data from the New Relic observability platform on a single pane of glass with an easy-to-understand dashboard.

It collects your commerce data to recognize key signals against a common timeline that can be expanded or contracted, allowing you to visualize your log data to improve performance management and issue resolution. You can spend your time correlating events and errors to gain deep insights into the causes of performance bottlenecks, instead of tracking disparate data.
